Love Is From God

Let's not mess it up!
Too many have the wrong idea about what forgiveness is.
It is not excusing sin or sweeping it under a rug.
It's not tolerance of abusive or sinful behavior,
nor is it a matter of time healing all wounds.

God tells us, "In your anger, do not sin:
Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry."
At times we have reason to be angry and to feel hurt.
Then, with the Spirit's help, love takes over.
Let the anger go and stop holding things over others.
God calls us to be "kind and compassionate
to one another."
As we forgive, we will have more concern for others
than for what they have done to us.

On our own, this is not possible.
But God pours out His love into the hearts of all
who believe in His Son,
enabling us to love others.

May the Lord help us to love others,
even when it seems hard for us to do.
