A Test Of Sinfulness

If you want to know whether you are sinful or not,
just take any of the characteristic commands of Jesus,
take any point of example in Him,
any of His conduct, anywhere,
and try in on yourself.

When we go into a clothing store,
needing to be fit for a gown or suit,
we seek help in sizing.
We try on garment after garment to see
what size correctly fits us.

We should try moral qualities the same way.
We have One text that leads to this very analogy:
"Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,"
as a garment.
Put it on your conscience.
Put on the Lord Jesus as an element of love.
Try on these Christian graces,
and see whether they fit you.

If you allow them to do so they will fit.
