"But
rather seek ye the kingdom of
God;
and all
these things shall be added
unto you."
Luke 12:31
Seek God First
Our
society today is inundated
with many reasons why "being
first" is a goal to be
obtained. There is nothing
wrong with obtaining first
place status. As a matter of
fact, the Bible encourages us
to set high goals and reach
for them with perseverance.
But what about those who do
their very best and never make
the first touchdown, never get
the top grade in class, never
win a trophy or a race? What
do they do with God's
promises?
God
has a plan for each and every
one of us. The stakes are
sometimes high, and the game
plan will be interrupted
countless times by the devil.
We will become doubtful,
discouraged, and face what
seem to be impossibilities.
However, God promises us that
if we seek Him first, we have
all we need ~ all of His
blessings and all of his
promises. It only takes the
faith of a mustard seed!
Some
of us may never make it to the
finish line, yet our labor is
rewarded because we did our
very best. And, in closing,
each of us can place first if
we simply believe and stand on
the promises of God and become
dead to doubt, dumb to
discouragement, and blind to
impossibilities.
"WHEREFORE seeing we also
are compassed about with
so great cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which doth so
easily beset us, and
let us run with patience the
race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus the author
and finisher of our
faith . . . "
If anyone pushes you
nearer to God,
they are your dearest
friend.
