"For
the kingdom of heaven is
as a man
traveling into a far country,
who
called his own servants,
and delivered
unto them his goods.
And unto one
he gave five talents,
to another
two, and to another one;
to every man
according to his several ability;
and
straightway took his journey.
But he that
had received one
went and
digged in the earth,
and hid his
lord's money."
Matthew 25:14,15,18
Pleasing
Stewardship
In Christ's
parable of the talents, He shows
not only what
faithful stewardship is,
but also what it
is not.
Three stewards
received from their master
different amounts
of money in trust.
Two of those
stewards used the money wisely
and won the
acclaim of the master:
"Well done, good
and faithful servant."
They were good
stewards!
The third steward
was condemned by the master,
not because he
had lost or stolen the money,
but because he
had simply hoarded it.
He had done
nothing with his talent.
He was discharged
as a steward
unworthy of the
trust.
God, who owns
every thing, has given us all
we are and have .
. .
material
blessings, skills, opportunities,
and best of all,
the gift of the
Savior, Jesus Christ.
We are not
reservoirs in which
God wants to store all this.
We are channels
through which these gifts
are to flow to
His glory
and for the
benefit of others.
May we use His
gracious gifts wisely
and effectively,
giving thanks
unto Him always,
as we bring glory
and honor to His name.
