"Honor and
majesty are before him:
strength and
beauty are in his sanctuary.
Give unto the
LORD, O ye kindreds of the people,
give unto the
LORD glory and strength.
Give unto the
LORD the glory due unto his
name:
bring an
offering, and come into his courts.
O worship the
LORD in the beauty of holiness:
fear before
him, all the earth."
Psalm 96:6-9
Worship Through
Offerings
Today is
another special Lord's day.
Again, we are
given an opportunity to gather with fellow
brother's and sister's in God's house
to receive a
blessing and to offer Him our worship and
praise.
Part of our
worship is the bringing of our
regular offerings to the Lord.
For God's
people this is a privilege and a joy.
Christian
giving is not simply a duty that we perform
in connection
with the worship service.
It's a very
important act of worship.
We bring our
tithes and offerings,
not just
because funds are needed to keep the church
going, but as a joyful response to the grace
of God in our lives.
It's part of
our stewardship ~
the way we use
the gifts of God for His glory.
"And
this they did, not as we hoped,
but first
gave their own selves to the Lord,
and unto us
by the will of God."
2Corinthians 8:5
The Macedonian
Christians give us the key to worshipful
Christian giving.
They knew the
grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and so they
"gave themselves first to the Lord."
As we come into
His courts with our offerings today,
let us also do
it joyfully, willingly,
and as God has
prospered us.
Paul refers to
our willful giving
as a gracious gift of God.
And it is
indeed!
Having received
His love,
we too can give
to the Lord
the glory due His Holy Name.
"I will
worship toward thy holy temple,
and
praise thy name for thy loving-kindness and
for thy truth:
for
thou hast magnified thy word above all thy
name."
Jesus is our One true source of joy!
