Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the
earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice and sing
praise.
Psalm 98:4
Sweet Music
On a recent
trip in to town, I decided at the last minute to
stop by my friend’s house to say hello. Lavon
was gracious enough to ask me to stay for a
visit.
Genuine love and concern flows from her heart for others. She has a
way of making me smile even during some of our
more intimate conversation.
We sat at her kitchen table for a while sharing small talk and a
warm cup of coffee. I listened as she shared
with me a special move of the Holy Spirit during
praise and worship the previous Sunday at her
Church. Then she asked if I would like to hear
some of the songs they sang. Of course, I
replied with a emphatic, “Yes!”
We made our way to the piano. Lavon played while both of us sang in
harmony. It wasn’t long before we were praising
the Lord in one accord.
I thought of David dancing before the Lord, and commented to Lavon
that I could almost dance with joy. She laughed
and replied, “Go right ahead.” I didn’t dance,
but we had a joyous time in the Lord. I hated to
see it end.
You can enter into the presence of the Lord singing! He doesn’t ask
you to have a professional singing voice. God
simply desires your love and praise. You can
enter into the holy place (his courts) with
praise and thanksgiving. God has extended an
invitation to us to visit him at any time!
Psalm 100:2, 4 Serve the Lord with gladness; come before his
presence with singing. Enter into his gates with
thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise:
Be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
I know our music was sweet to his ears, and a soothing balm to our
souls.
