"For the love
of Christ constraineth us;
because we
thus judge,
that if one
died for all, then were all dead:
And
that he died for all,
that they
which live should not henceforth
live unto
themselves,
but unto him
which died for them, and rose again."
2Corinthians 5:14-15
Desiring
"Works" Of Love
I read an
article about a missionary working in Africa.
When someone asked him if he liked it,
he replied, "Do
I like this work? No, my wife and I do not
like dirt. We have reasonably refined
sensibilities. We do not like crawling into
huts through goats refuse. We do not like
association with ignorant, filthy, brutish
people.
But is a man to
do nothing for Christ he does not like?
If
not, then God pity him.
Liking or
disliking has nothing to do with it.
We have orders
to "go" and we go.
Love constrains
us."
(Missionary
Known To God)
A love desire
to please Christ is not something
extra for the
Christian.
It is basic to
Christian sanctity.
It is not a
dessert, but the main course.
It is not a
side-show, but the main tent.
It is not a
motive to which we can resort to
when convenient
. . .
it is a
controlling force to which we have
committed our
lives.
We abandon
every thing else.
In time,
applause and pleas of the world
have a hollow
ring.
We are marching
to a different drumbeat.
To see Jesus'
smile should be
our singularly,
greatest delight!
This should be
our working goal.
This is the
lifestyle of love.
"For God so
loved the world . . ."
